This Privacy Notice explains how Retang LLC, the operator of LookupHSCodes.com (“Retang”, “we”, “us”), collects, uses, and shares personal data when you use our website and services. Retang LLC is the data controller for the personal data described below.
1. Data we collect
- Account data: name, email address, hashed password or OAuth identifier.
- Usage data: classifications you run, product descriptions you submit, saved HS codes, API calls, timestamps.
- Technical data: IP address, device and browser identifiers, log data.
- Support data: messages you send us.
- Billing data: handled by Paddle as Merchant of Record; we receive subscription status and a customer reference, not full card details.
2. How we use data
- To create and operate your account and provide the Service (contract performance).
- To process classifications and bulk uploads you request (contract performance).
- To prevent fraud, abuse, and security incidents (legitimate interests).
- To improve product quality and model performance, on aggregated or de-identified data where feasible (legitimate interests).
- To send service and billing notices (contract / legal obligation).
- To send marketing emails only where you have opted in (consent — you can withdraw at any time).
3. Who we share data with
- Paddle — Merchant of Record, for checkout, billing, tax compliance, and invoicing.
- Hosting and infrastructure providers — to operate the Service.
- AI model providers — to generate classifications from your submitted product data. Submitted product descriptions are processed by these providers solely to return a classification.
- Analytics and error-reporting providers — to monitor reliability and usage.
- Professional advisers (legal, accounting) and authorities where required by law.
We do not sell your personal data.
4. International transfers
Your data may be processed outside your country, including in the United States and the EEA. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses or adequacy decisions.
5. Retention
We retain account and usage data for as long as your account is active, and for a reasonable period afterwards to meet legal, accounting, and security obligations. After that we delete or anonymise it.
6. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, rectify, erase, restrict, port, or object to processing of your personal data, and to withdraw consent. EEA/UK users have these rights under the GDPR/UK GDPR and may lodge a complaint with their local supervisory authority. We aim to respond within one month.

We use appropriate technical and organisational measures including encryption in transit, access controls, and audit logging. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your data and notify affected users of incidents where legally required.
